Privacy policy
This policy explains how Shelflo handles information in our mobile app and website. AI sharing is optional, and you can request account deletion.
Information you provide
Shelflo stores account and profile details, your books and reading status, ratings, notes and reflections, preferences, saved recommendations, and conversations with Boo. Optional profile details and uploaded avatars, cover images, or private note photos are stored when you add them. Imported Kindle or Goodreads data becomes part of your library.
How we use information
We use this information to operate your account, sync your library, personalize your reading experience, provide requested AI features, manage paid access, enforce usage limits, and maintain security and reliability.
AI is your choice
AI features are disabled until you explicitly allow sharing. When enabled, relevant book information, reading preferences, ratings, permitted reflections, and chat messages may be sent to Anthropic to generate a response. We do not include account passwords or payment details in AI prompts. You can withdraw permission at any time in the app.
Services that process data
Supabase provides authentication, database, and file storage. Anthropic processes enabled AI requests. Open Library and book-cover services receive book searches or identifiers when fetching public metadata. Apple and Google process sign-in when selected. RevenueCat and the relevant app store process purchase and entitlement information. Vercel hosts this website.
Analytics and diagnostics
When configured, PostHog receives limited product events and technical diagnostics that help us understand usage and fix failures. We do not send book titles, search text, private notes, chat content, email, or profile details in analytics events. Automatic interaction capture, session replay, and location enrichment are disabled.
Your controls
You can edit your profile and library, change sharing settings, turn AI features off, disable notifications, and delete your account from the app. Deleting your Shelflo account does not automatically cancel an App Store or Google Play subscription; subscriptions must be managed with the store.
Storage, sharing, and retention
Account and library information is retained while your account exists unless you delete it earlier. Public profiles and enabled shared shelves can be viewed by other people, but private notes and Boo conversations are not included. Backups, security logs, and payment records can have separate retention periods, including periods required by law.
Security and international processing
We use authenticated access and database access controls to protect account data. No storage or transmission system is completely secure. Our providers may process data in countries other than where you live.
